swaddle blanket

swaddle blanket
a lot of parents wonder how they are going to ever master the  art of swaddling, or if it is even beneficial. Well, when it comes to actually wrapping the baby that is wiggly, all I can say is practice, practice, training, because as a pediatric and nursery nurse I still have trouble some times. As for when  it  is worth learning, absolutely! There are incredibly benefits that are many swaddling, and that is just what i've the pleasure of talking to you about today.

swaddle blanket
I want to begin off by saying you don't want to wrap the baby too tight because this can restrict the baby’s ability to breath. You want your baby to be wrapped snug enough to feel secure, but not too tight that she can’t move at all. Also, maybe not all babies like to be swaddled or may like different variations on swaddling, you are going to need  to find out just what works for you and your baby. For example, my daughter loved being wrapped up, as long as her hands were free, so  I would swaddle her from her armpits down. Experiment and watch your baby’s reactions.

The Benefits of Swaddling

Babies sleep longer: Babies are used to being snug inside the womb. When they're born, they are no longer confined, but its strange for them to possess therefore much movement. Also, newborns make  lot of jerky motions as they are developing muscle control. These movements can wake the baby. Swaddling provides the snugness and heat of the womb, while decreasing the severity  of those jerky motions.

Reduces the danger of SIDS: Swaddling a baby helps keep her on her back because she cannot move as much, which is the safest place for her to sleep.

Less crying: this is certainly back to those jerky movements. When a newborn makes those movements that are jerky can startle her, and over time this may cause over stimulation. If an infant is over stimulated she's going to cry in an attempt to block out the stimuli. Being swaddled decreases those movements that are jerky.

Fewer scratches: Babies finger nails are sharp and grow fast. When swaddled, baby’s arms are kept away from their faces. That is, unless your baby is similar to mine, and desires her hands out!

Regulates body temperature: Swaddling helps babies maintain human body heat. Babies have a harder time body temperature that is regulating. It  is NOT recommended that you use a loose blanket in the crib, but swaddling keeps the blanket away from baby’s face while maintaining her sufficiently warm. You should  be sure to decide on a breathable cloth, like LillianAndrew 100% muslin cotton blankets, which will help to keep baby from overheating. Never use a blanket that is heavy swaddling.

Can help with breastfeeding: It is recommended that you use skintoskin contact into  the very first several days to help with milk letdown and lactation. Swaddling can help though if you might be observing that your baby’s hands are getting in the method. You can wrap her up and down keep her hands.

When to stop swaddling

Solutions when swaddling should no longer be done. Swaddling is useful for the very first 2 months of a baby’s life, after that swaddling can hinder your baby’s movements. You must also stop swaddling once your baby can roll over as having a baby swaddled while on her belly can cause suffocation. When I mentioned at the beginning, if your child does not like swaddling, you can alter or eliminate swaddling altogether.

How to swaddle your child

In the hospital your child is handed to you in an ideal buddle that is little wrapped up and cozy. Then you go home and ... you just cannot figure it out! There are  lot of factors at play. To begin with, most of  the blankets you have are many likely too small to properly swaddle your infant. Second, many blankets that are receiving not square, they are cut lopsided, making more blanket on one part than the other (at least mine were anyway). You want  to find a blanket like the  one here at LillianAndrew that is a nice size.

Lay the blanket on a surface that is flat the shape of a diamond. Fold down 34 ins of the top edge of the blanket (the top corner of the diamond).

Place your baby on  the blanked so the tops of her shoulders are just during  the fold you just made.

Tuck your baby’s right arm into the flap that ended up being made when you folded down the top advantage, now take the right corner and fold across baby, tucking it underneath  the opposite part of her back.

Bring the corner that is bottom of blanket up and tuck into the blanket near the chest.

Now, tuck the arm that is left the flap made from folding the top corner down, just as

you did with the arm that is right pull that corner across her body and tuck it in

        behind her back.

You can always hit up Lillian Andrew's YouTube channel for a video on what to do it.

Do’s and Don’ts of swaddling

Do always lay your baby on her back when swaddled.
Do always utilize a material that is breathable swaddling.
Do stop baby that is swaddling she is 2 months old if she enables you to.

Do NOT wrap your baby too tight.
Do NOT wrap the blanket over baby’s nose or mouth. Do NOT swaddle once your baby can roll over.
Do NOT utilize a heavy blanket for swaddling.

Do NOT swaddle your infant if a fever is had by her or is sick.

cd mastering

Every mixer starts out unsure how  to make the most of their recording and mixing equipment. If you're new  to the entire world of mixing and music that is mastering the studio, never fear. Even the many expert of professionals started out where you are. You get used to your equipment and begin creating great sound for music production, you have come to the right place if you are looking for some great ways to help.
cd mastering
The tip that is first mixing and mastering music in the studio is to really listen to the character of the music. Listen carefully and you will need  to bring out of the most unique parts of one's creation. Always give consideration towards the details. Take care  to listen to each individual track before you mix. The thing that is first should take care of is little pops, white noise and hissing that will be there in the flat tracks. While an entire mix should appear like  it goes together, do not be afraid to produce instrumental variations with equalizing abilities. Start playing each track panned towards the center and then use great EQ control to generate frequencies that build on the other person. Experiment with cutting off some of the bass, forcing the kick of the drum in the mid range or placing special attention on filter attack.

Dynamics in mixing and mastering music in the studio is important in giving your music breath. At the beginning, enable the automation recording feature and take notice as to the you're feeling when you listen  to the music. Do not  be afraid to get back and earn  some edits that are serious. The flow of a song can be drastically modified by taking out fully entire parts  of songs. That you can mix songs that sound great everywhere, not just in your studio wherever you are doing your mixing, the acoustics should be desirable. Any room with unusual wall covers that either make music echo or soak up sound that is too much often result in poor-quality mixes.

Families of Patients with Alzheimer’s Disease: What Can You Do?

alzheimers clinic

Learning that your loved one has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease can be very difficult. The impact of the disease, learning about the stages and treatments, and helping to plan for the future are all daunting tasks that take a lot of time and effort. The primary focus tends to be on the patient; however, it is important for the family and caregivers of the patient to take care of themselves. It is not selfish or otherwise wrong to have feelings regarding the diagnosis. Further, it is healthy to have your own support system to help you cope with not only the diagnosis but the road ahead.
alzheimers clinic
Some common experiences of the family and caregivers of patients with Alzheimer’s disease include feelings of depression, worry, sleep disturbances, feelings of being burdened, financial strain – all of which are entirely normal. So what can you do to address and alleviate these feelings?

Plan – One of the seemingly easiest, but often most difficult ways to address some of the feelings you may experience is to plan for the future and progression of the disease. Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive neurological condition that will render your loved one dependent upon others eventually. Taking the time to plan for the financial requirements of the necessary care is a key component of lessening the financial strain down the road. Establishing trusts, living wills, a caregiving team, and a chain of command among the caregiving team can all be helpful in planning for the future in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease.

Develop a Support System – Alzheimer’s patients obviously need a strong support system and caregiving team, but so do their family members and caregivers! Express your feelings to other members of the caregiving team and remember to remain in contact with friends who can help provide some support throughout the process. Try not to take on all of the responsibilities and instead delegate duties and plan for when you or another caregiver are feeling overwhelmed. Also, make it a point to remain involved in the social activities that you were involved with before.

Join a Support Group – There are many Alzheimer’s support groups available for not only patients, but also for the family and caregivers of the patients. These support groups exist locally, some part of larger national/international organizations, as well as online. Your loved ones’ neurologist is likely to be able to provide some information on how to seek these groups out.

Counseling – Seeking professional counseling can help you to work through some of the emotions that you experience through the journey of dealing with Alzheimer’s disease. Counseling is never a sign of weakness and can actually provide a great strength to you and the rest of the family and caregiving team. Group counseling may also be an excellent option to involve more members of the team, or even the patient themselves.

Patient Concerns: What Can I Expect During the Middle Stages of Alzheimer’s Disease?

best Alzheimer doctor

Patients may spend years in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease. In fact, the earliest symptoms do not appear in a noticeable way until roughly 48 months into disease progression. The middle stage could be equally long, however, progression seems to be quicker. Symptoms build upon one another, so once a particular symptom appears, it will likely get worse instead of better.

Mental and Physical Preparation is Vital
This will be a confusing and frightening experience; understanding what will happen as the disease progresses can help you cope with some of the serious psychological symptoms. You have the ability now, to create contingency plans for upcoming symptoms.

Realizing that your needs will change as the disease progresses can help you organize caregivers effectively so when that time comes, you and your loved ones and/or caregivers are ready. It will also help you make decisions about how you want to be cared for. Do you want to avoid a certain type of medication? Would you prefer to remain living in your own home as long as possible? Do you want a specific person to care for you? Express these concerns now, research solutions, document your desires, attend support groups for both patients and caregivers. This simple preparation may significantly decrease the severity and likelihood of many psychological symptoms, such as depression and anxiety, because you're doing what you can.

Middle Stage Symptoms
Symptoms will vary depending on the individual, but some of the most common include:

•    General Confusion
o    Confuses past events with recent events
o    Fails to recall recent events
o    Repeats questions, stories, statements
o    Lives largely "in the moment"
o    Yesterday may not be clearly remembered
o    Frequently talks about people from childhood
o    Difficulty understanding other people

•    Problems with judgment calls
o    Does not always remember to take medication
o    Does not handle money well (ex. giving large bills to the cashier or telling them to take what they need from a large cash pile or wallet)
o    Needs help with decision making (what or where to purchase something, what to wear)
o    Loss of impulse control
o    Irrational decision making

•    Restlessness or pacing

In addition to these symptoms, irritability and anger may also increase as you realize the tasks you are unable to perform. This emotional response is usually triggered by the frustration of being unable to perform tasks that you had no trouble performing before the disease. However, you may not be able to effectively communicate this frustration to others, and they may not understand why you are angry, unless you've both prepared for it beforehand.

Pregnant? Do not Try to Lose Weight!

graviditet

No girl should ever food that is severely restrict her pregnancy, no matter  how much she weighs when she gets pregnant. All obstetricians recommend that a woman gain at least 20 pounds during her maternity, even she becomes pregnant if she weighs 300 pounds when.

In 1988, David Barker of the University of Southampton in England noticed that from the beginning of the century that is twentieth poor areas of England had an extremely high incidence of newborn babies dying and those that survived had a really high incidence of heart attacks later in life. He noticed that babies born to very poor women were little at birth. He concluded that when a mother is deprived of food during her pregnancy, she gives delivery to babies who are small at birth, and the ones who survive are in high risk for heart attacks many years later when  they become adults.
graviditet
Further research shows  that little newborns from big parents are more likely  to die in infancy than small infants from small parents. An infant who should have been born at 9 pounds because of big parents, but weights only 5 pounds at delivery, is the one most prone  to perish and become sickly. A five pound infant whose parents were small was allowed  to  be about five pounds. So babies that are small since they're deprived of food into  the uterus are  the ones most likely  to die in infancy and suffer heart attacks later in life.

Then  study from the Amsterdam famine of 1942 showed  that children who are deprived of food in the 1st three months of pregnancy are  the ones almost certainly to suffer heart attacks as adults. However,  study from the Stalingrad famine of 1942 showed that babies deprived of food in the uterus who don't become fat later in life are perhaps not at increased risk for heart attacks later on. The Amsterdam children had lots  of food throughout their childhoods, while the Stalingrad babies continued to be starved for their whole childhoods because of this sluggish recovery of this Russian economy after World War II. The Amsterdam babies suffered heart attacks as grownups, as  the Stalingrad babies did not.

Studies in the Philippines show that depriving a baby of food in the womb causes him or her to have blood that is high and high cholesterol later in life. We've established that when an infant is deprived of food in the womb and  is given lots of food later on, he or she is at great risk for a heart attack. On the  other hand, if a baby is starved in uterus and is not given lots of food later on, his risk for a heart attack is perhaps not increased. We now have to explain how depriving a baby of food within  the womb and overfeeding him during youth causes heart attacks. There is certainly a huge body of research showing that starvation in the uterus shunts blood to the brain and away from the other organs, causing a child to be born with small liver, pancreas, kidneys and so forth. These organs do not function because well and when these babies are given food that is too much on, they have higher than normal levels of insulin and other hormones that constrict arteries to cause heart attacks. These infants have smaller kidneys which may well  not manage  to function as well, so when they do not get sufficient oxygen, produce too much renin that also constricts arteries to cause blood pressure that is high. High levels of insulin constrict arteries and cause heart attacks.

Therefore all women should gain at  least 20 pounds if  they are pregnant. If unborn babies do not get enough calories into  the uterus, they shunt each of  their calories to the brain and away  from other organs in their health. They have actually tiny livers and kidneys. Small livers cannot remove insulin after meals, causing high insulin levels that constrict arteries and cause heart attacks. Small kidneys discharge chemical compounds to  the bloodstream that constrict arteries to cause high blood pressure, and strokes.

Areas You Need to Prepare for During Advanced Stages of Alzheimer’s Disease

alzheimers treatment

If you have just been diagnosed with an early stage of Alzheimer’s disease (AD), you may feel frightened and unsure of what to do next. You are not alone. There are many resources and avenues of support available. You have many decisions ahead of you, and making them now will provide the most benefit because you may be unable to make them later. This article is a brief overview of what a recently diagnosed AD patient can expect in the very latest stages of AD. We also provide some suggestions on how you can prepare for late-stage AD now.
alzheimers treatment
Make Care Decisions
First and foremost, you need to recognize that you will someday get to a point when you can no longer make health or finance decisions on your own behalf. You should have someone to step into this role when that time comes. It can be a legal guardian, a care center, or a loved one. Take some time to think about this important decision.

The ones who know you best are often great in this role, but some patients cannot bear the thought of being a potential burden on family and friends. However, family and friends may insist that they take on your care to ensure that you are being well taken care of. Discuss the matter with close relatives and come to a decision quickly. Discuss specific goals or desires for your care now because communication abilities decline as the disease progresses.

Other Health Concerns
Patients with AD often have other chronic illnesses or diseases as well. It is important to address these health matters now and establish a plan with your doctor or caregiver on how you will continue to address these concerns after your cognitive abilities decline. Plan for regular checkups now, and continue them even after the disease progresses.

In late-stage AD, you will no longer be able to perform many daily activities, including bathing yourself, feeding yourself, or taking medications. You need to not only address as many problems now as you can, but you also need a plan for how your caregiver will help you with these issues later. Let your caregiver know about any and all medications you are taking and all other health concerns.

Plan for Safety
As the disease progresses, you will lose general awareness. You may not know who very close friends and relatives are, where you are, and why you are there. This confusion has different effects on patients, so plan for the worst. Be sure that you are in a location where you cannot wander or hurt yourself if you lash out in your confused state.

Preparing now can make the progression of the disease easier on you, your family, friends, and caregiver. For more information on what you should do to prepare or what to expect, visit http://www.palmbeachneurological.com/blog/.

Alzheimer’s Disease Diagnosis: Four Major Effects on Families

9/27/2015

alzheimers treatment

There are roughly 5.4 million known cases of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) in the United States, and there may be as many as 24 million across the globe. The prevalence of this disease not only affects the patient, but also their caregivers and family members. Because this disease causes brain cells to slowly deteriorate, family members and caregivers are vital to anyone who has AD. Family members often carry a heavy load when their loved one has Alzheimer's.
alzheimers treatment
Financial Burden
The disease imposes a huge financial burden on families. According to one estimate, the costs associated with caring for AD patients worldwide was a staggering $604 billion in 2010, and it’s predicted to be $1,117 billion by 2030. Insurance will help combat individual costs, but for the majority of situations, it will not cover everything; and out-of-pocket expenses can be significant.

Time Commitment
Families often devote a substantial amount of time to caring for their loved one with AD. Families caring for someone with mild AD spend about 2 hours per day caring for their loved one, and that commitment only increases as the disease progresses. Some care for their loved one as much as 43 hours per week, and family members carry the brunt of this responsibility. This time commitment may also mean that the caregiver is no longer able to work outside the home or they must invest in a caregiver to help while they work. When a significant amount of time must be devoted to their loved one, other responsibilities may be ignored.

Emotional Toll
Perhaps the most difficult part of having a family member with AD is that their memory will eventually fade to the point that they may not be able to recognize even close family members. Sons and daughters may be mistaken for older relatives, and grandchildren may be completely forgotten. It is extremely difficult to watch a loved one fail to recognize someone who cares about them.

Psychological Effects
When families care for their loved one with Alzheimer's, it will likely be extremely difficult to watch them regress to the point of being dependent on other people, especially if they were strong and independent prior to the disease. For many caregivers. the stress of caring for someone else, the financial burden, and the emotional effects can cause severe psychological symptoms like depression and anxiety. Family members may be so concerned about caring for their loved one that they forget to care for themselves, which is detrimental to everyone.

Family members are strongly encouraged to ask for help when they need it. Support groups and learning coping methods will significantly improve the situation. Even just having face-to-face conversations with a healthcare professional can be helpful. To find out more, visit http://www.palmbeachneurological.com/.

Getting the services of a web host provider should make your online life easier and you will just need to concentrate on your website most of the time.
